V Frame ACC
(Air Cooled Condenser)

This heat exchanger resembles an inverted A-Frame, with the fan installed above the condenser, drawing hot air upwards. Natural convection is assisted by induced draft.

The V-frame design of air-cooled condensers, often referred to as “V-frame” or “V-ACC,” is a significant innovation in the field of industrial cooling systems.

This configuration is specially designed to maximize cooling efficiency while minimizing the ground footprint, making V-ACC particularly suitable for power plants and industrial facilities where space and energy efficiency are critical.

What does AX Cleaner bring to this type of air-cooled condenser?

AX Cleaner: Recover your original performance.

The Ax Cleaner is specially designed to meet the cleaning needs of V-shaped heat exchangers.

Thanks to its innovative design and advanced technology, the Ax Cleaner is perfectly suited to reaching and effectively cleaning hard-to-reach areas of these exchangers.

This type of exchanger often leaves less space available for inserting a cleaning system, which is why it’s important to use a particularly compact cleaning system like the AX Cleaner®.

If the finned tubes are single-row (single-raw), the ladders are very light and roll directly on the ACC thanks to rubber wheels.

Principles and Operation

The V design derives its name from the angular arrangement of the cooling tube bundles, which form a “V” when viewed from the side. This configuration increases the exposure surface to the ambient air for a given volume, allowing more efficient cooling of the steam inside the tubes through natural or forced convection.

Cooling Optimization: The V design enhances airflow through the tube bundles, facilitating more effective thermal dissipation compared to traditional horizontal or vertical configurations. Fresh air is drawn in from the open sides of the V, thus increasing heat transfer efficiency.

Reduction of Ground Footprint: The V configuration allows for a more compact design, significantly reducing the space required for installing the ACC without compromising its cooling capacity. This is particularly advantageous in areas where ground space is expensive or limited.

Adaptability and Flexibility: V-ACC can be customized to fit a wide range of operational conditions and spatial constraints, offering a flexible solution for various industrial applications. They are capable of operating efficiently even in extreme weather conditions, from high ambient temperatures to areas with low wind speed.

Environmental and Economic Benefits

Environmental Performance: By eliminating the need for water for cooling, V-ACC contribute to water conservation, a crucial advantage in regions prone to drought or those aiming to reduce their water consumption for environmental reasons.

Long-Term Savings: Although the initial investment in a V system may be higher than that of traditional configurations, the savings in terms of water consumption, chemical treatments, and maintenance can make the V option economically advantageous over the lifetime of the facility.

Reliability and Durability: The V design, by facilitating access for maintenance and reducing maintenance needs through better thermal management, contributes to greater reliability and a prolonged lifespan of equipment.

This type of exchanger often leaves less space available for inserting a cleaning system, which is why it is important to use a particularly compact cleaning system like the AX Cleaner®.
