Fogging of air condensers and gas turbine.

The performance of many industrial processes is impacted by the ambient air temperature. During periods of high heat, cooling in air coolers is less efficient, affecting the operation of the entire facility.

The sizing of exchange surfaces is a techno-economic compromise based on average climatic conditions. In the case of high temperatures, processes are less well controlled, which impacts the profitability of entire plants.    

High-pressure misting is the solution to stabilize the performance of air-cooled condensers, air coolers, and gas turbines. AX System relies on its knowledge of air coolers and high pressure to propose misting solutions for adiabatic cooling.

Our concept consists of stackable modules, each containing up to 36 nozzles. The 0.4 mm diameter nozzles spray water droplets of 10 microns, which evaporate upon contact with the air. During this change from liquid to gasstate, an adiabatic reaction absorbs heat and reduces the air temperature.

Each module can inject up to 5.4 L/min at 70 bar. The number of modules per heat exchanger depends on the total flow required to achieve the desired performance.

For example, for an ACC (Air-Cooled Condenser), 100 modules can be installed, spraying 540 L/min, and can reduce the air stream temperature by up to 6°C, depending on meteorological conditions (temperature and relative humidity).
